A message from Ryder Cup Wales 2010

Wherever we look in Wales, there is now a growing and palpable interest in the world of golf. From increasing numbers, year on year, of visitors coming to Wales to play golf, to higher and higher spectator attendance at our own home-grown golf tournaments, not to mention new Welsh businesses setting up to service golf and golfers.
This is due, in no small part, to The Ryder Cup effect, the growing excitement that this truly global event is now less than two years away. And the evidence that Wales is ready is all around us: The continuing regeneration of Newport that positions it as a city in genuine transition and the stunning projects now coming to fruition at Celtic Manor Resort itself, all point to a spectator event and a visitor experience to rival all others.
It is particularly heartening to see this new level of interest in the media in general and in publishing in particular. There is, undoubtedly, a real thirst for more news, views, opinions and information on this most fascinating of sports. The team behind Fairway to Green Wales have decided that now is the time to make the most of this interest and we wish them well in their new venture. As the whole nation makes its preparations for 2010, our hope is that Fairway to Green Wales and other new Welsh initiatives across a variety of sectors, form part of the lasting legacy of The 2010 Ryder Cup.
