On June 18th, Steve Rider - acclaimed sports presenter, and anchor of ITV's football coverage - will be hosting an exclusive golf day on behalf of United Response, a disability charity he has supported for many years.
He will be joined by fellow broadcaster and ‘voice of golf', Peter Alliss, who will be offering a range of strong opinions and entertaining anecdotes from the world of golf. The Royal Wimbledon Golf Club, one of London's oldest and most prestigious, has generously agreed to host a day crammed full of activities.
As well as an eighteen hole stableford competition around the wonderful Royal Wimbledon course, there will also be a range of on-course individual hole competitions for both men and women, including ‘nearest pin' and ‘longest drive'. Non-golfing friends or partners can also join in for lunch, speeches and prize giving, with a special Beginners Swing Clinic and Putting Competition with a Royal Wimbledon Golf Pro on offer to those who'd like to try their hand.
A ticket for the event is just £125 per individual, or £500 for a team of four. The beginner's swing clinic, putting competition and lunch is only £60.
For companies considering taking part, it is an excellent opportunity for networking and client entertaining and there are still some sponsorship packages available at very reasonable prices.
Steve Rider said, "I'm delighted to support a charity that does such wonderful work throughout England and Wales on behalf of those with learning disabilities, mental health needs and physical disabilities. I and a few sporting colleagues are aiming to organise a day that will be relaxed and enjoyable as well as profitable for the charity. The whole day is planned to be over by five o'clock at the latest so it shouldn't wreck your social life or burn a huge hole in your pocket. And we would be delighted to welcome non-golfing friends or partners to join us for lunch, speeches and prize giving."
"This is a very exciting event for us, as it's the first time we've been part of a major sporting fundraiser," said Su Sayer, chief executive of United Response, "The fact it will be hosted by sports personalities of this calibre means it is sure to be a thoroughly entertaining day. The people we support are often the most vulnerable in our society, and every penny we raise will be used to give them the opportunities the rest of us may take for granted. We are enormously grateful to Royal Wimbledon Golf Club for their support, and to both Steve Rider and Peter Alliss for giving up their valuable time."
