A golfing 'Tea On' for the NSPCC

Soap stars from the nation's favourite soap Coronation Street are asking golfers to make their "tees" count for the NSPCC by backing the charity's Stop for Tea initiative.

Corrie stars David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh who play café owners Roy and Hayley Cropper in the ITV soap are encouraging their fans to ‘Stop for Tea' to raise vital funds for the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal.

Donations made at a traditional afternoon tea at the golf course or even a charity-day "tee-off" on the range can help ChildLine counsel more children and the NSPCC Helpline answer more calls from adults concerned about a child.

Julie Hesmondhalgh said: "We are great supporters of the NSPCC and are delighted to be backing the Stop for Tea campaign which is a fantastic way to get involved in helping a great cause. If we all play a part in raising the awareness, then together we can help put a stop to the horrors children and young people face."

David Neilson added: "All cuppa lovers can get involved, whether it is at home with family and friends or in the workplace with colleagues, clients and customers. All you need to do is pour the tea, have fun and raise lots of money to help give children and young people a safer future."

Judith Hayes, NSPCC community appeals manger said: "More than 165 million cups of tea are enjoyed in the UK every single day and the NSPCC need your help to ensure that as many of them as possible are poured to help children."
