Pink Ribbon Golf looks to October
Posted on 01/07/09. By Christina Smith
Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK with 1 in 9 women in the UK diagnosed at some point in their lifetime. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink Ribbon Golf has joined forces with Breakthrough Breast Cancer to raise money and increase awareness in the Golfing community.
The comprehensive range of everyday golf accessories from Pink Ribbon Golf has been launched with a 10% donation to Breakthrough. Money raised will help the charity fund ground-breaking research, campaign for better services and treatments and promote the importance of breast awareness.
The range includes everything from stylish caps and visors, ball markers, gloves, umbrellas and towels to a distinctive golf bag. All products carry a subtle, but distinctive pink ribbon logo to show your support for the cause and raise awareness on the golf course.
Breast cancer is close to many lady golfer's hearts with the Ladies Golf Union and many lady captains having the cause as their nominated charity. Exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy weight are two steps you can take to help reduce your risk of developing breast cancer. Burning an average of 280 calories an hour, (180 calories with a trolley) golf is an excellent means of keeping fit and healthy.
Being breast aware simply means knowing what your breasts look and feel like normally, being on the lookout for any unusual changes and getting them checked out by your doctor. Breakthrough's message is ...
- TOUCH your breasts. Feel for anything unusual.
- LOOK for changes. Be aware of their shape and texture.
- CHECK anything unusual with your doctor.
In the next 12 months Pink Ribbon Golf have committed to donate at least £20,000 to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
