Charity
Charity
Every year golf raises millions of pounds for worthy causes. From the smallest golf day to major fundraising events featuring global golfing superstars such as Tiger Woods, Colin Montgomerie and Ernie Els.
GOLFLINKS.co.uk is supporting three important charities:
Sparks - A children's charity that funds medical research into all conditions and disabilities affecting children with the goal of ensuring that all babies are born healthy and stay healthy.
Special Olympics - Dedicated to providing year round sports training and competition for those with mental disabilities Special Olympics aims to increase awareness and understanding and help them become productive and valued members of society.
Sport Relief - A fundraising initiative brought to you by Comic Relief, with a handy golfing twist!
We hope that all GOLFLINKS.co.uk members will dig deep and help us, to help those who are less fortunate.

Sparks
Sparks aim is to give every child the best possible start in life – a healthy one. Childhood cancers, meningitis, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, brain damage and the complications surrounding premature birth are just a few of the research areas to benefit from Sparks funding. The very lifeblood of Sparks fundraising mission stems from its exciting calendar of events. Celebrity golf days, glamorous social balls, marathons, half-marathons, corporate partnerships, overseas challenges, celebrity auctions, clay pigeon shoots, polo, rugby, triathlons, soccer and cricket tournaments and fashion shows all play a crucial role in the fight to achieve the charities ambitious goal.
As the Official Benefiting Charity of the 2008 London Golf Show, Sparks were out in force at the event collecting donations from members of the public and at the TeeGenius Stand throughout. One of the Sparks celebrities at this year’s show was comedy legend, Ronnie Corbett (pictured left), who just couldn’t resist shuffling into a familiar big black chair when he visited the show on its opening day!
Special Olympics
Special Olympics is founded on the belief that through participation in sport, people with a learning disability can develop the confidence and advocacy skills to become fully integrated into society. The ultimate goal of Special Olympics Great Britain is to promote the fuller social inclusion of people with learning disabilities. By offering opportunities to develop and demonstrate skills and talents through sports training and competition and by increasing public awareness, Special Olympics helps people with learning disabilities participate as productive and valued members of society.
Special Olympics is also the only Olympic competition to include golf and in 2007 Great Britain won the gold medal in this event.
More »Sport Relief
Sport Relief harnesses the power and passion of sport to change lives for the better. By doing sport, having fun and raising money, everyone can do good and feel good. All the money raised is spent by Comic Relief.
Golf legend, Colin Montgomerie and tennis ace, Tim Henman (pictured) have shown their support for HSBC's Office Golf Challenge this year (2008). Staff at HSBC's headquarters in Canary Wharf have been raising money for Sport Relief by office putting and the competition culminated as the top 20 office golfers teamed up with Colin Montgomerie and Tim Henman in a Ryder Cup-style team challenge to determine the Office Putting Champion.
HSBC is the Official Golf Partner of Sport Relief 2008. With the old golfing adage "you drive for show, you putt for dough", HSBC is now challenging offices and workplaces across the UK to organise their own office putting or crazy golf challenges to raise some "dough" for Sport Relief.
From simply putting down a waste paper bin in the corridor, to creating a crazy golf hole or two, it could hardly be easier for people to raise money at work.
