Hazelgrove Golf Club
Golf in Cheshire doesn't get any better than this!!
With 2013 Centenary planning well on its way, the beautiful and well-appointed Alister MacKenzie parkland course at Hazel Grove Golf Club in Cheshire, is characterised by several natural water hazards. Add to these the planting of a further 6,500 trees to supplement the existing ones and you can understand why thoughtful course management is required by golfers of all levels. The course has a number of feature holes each presenting its own individual MacKenzie challenge. The par 5 third is as testing as any and ranks amongst the best in Cheshire, while the best of the par 3's is arguably the eleventh, both for its degree of difficulty and picturesque layout. Equally, the eighteenth finishing hole with its MacKenzie tiered green and backdrop of the chalet-style clubhouse ranks with the best on the course. With so many outstanding holes, it's hard to highlight any one as a 'signature' hole. However, the fifteenth, dominated by a large sweeping lake, which runs along the left hand edge of the fairway, and across the front and down the left of the green, must take the honour. At 285 yards, this par 4 represents the ultimate risk or reward hole. From the elevated tee the green always seems within reach with a well struck drive, but your mind is then further concentrated by the out of bounds which runs along the right edge of the fairway. The decision is yours - lay up, or take on the green? Golfers who enjoy and appreciate the challenge of MacKenzie Courses will love the welcome they get at Hazel Grove and we trust they will leave saying "Golf in Cheshire just doesn't get any better than this!" Church Stretton Golf Club
Mountain Golf
Where Golf meets Fell Walking, i.e. very hilly. Interesting course with very true fast greens and sheep. Harder than its length and SSS might suggest, especially in a wind as it's very exposed.
Saunton Golf Club
Paradise for lovers of links golf
What a challenge and we played it on a fairly calm day.Excellent condition and a true test of links golf.
Hilton Puckrup Hall Golf Club
short but tricky
Not the longest but certainly a nice course for a couple of days away.Plenty of natural hazards to catch the wayward shot but plenty of opportunities to make birdies.
Cotgrave Place Golf Club - Open Course
Two super courses
Both the Masters course and Open course are in great nick, especially the greens, which are the best I've played anywhere this year. Great value.
Allestree Park Golf Club
fun at allestree
this is a good but challenging course with great views
Park Wood Golf Club
Mr Brian Cullen
I am a 6 handicapper and played Park Wood for the first time today, 3rd August 2009. WHAT A GEM OF A GOLF COURSE. If you live in the vicinity or are able to commute to this wonderful parkland golf course then you should treat yourself to a magnificant day's golf. Green fees and society prices are very reasonable for such quality. Food is also very good and reasonably priced too.
Hindhead Golf Club
Surreys Finest
Situated in the heart or Surrey, Hindhead is an excellent example of a heathland course offering great views and even better greens. With a brilliant new short game practice facility and friendly staff, Hindhead is a great club to visit and will provide a real test to golfers of all standards.
Reddish Vale Golf Club
Manchesters mackenzie gem
Played the course fro the first time this week. It is a true gem! Like its famous sister Augusta it is located in an unpromising area but the course is fantastic. The greens are superb and there is a lot of variety in the holes. The best is probably 'down the hill' from 7 onwards with a real heartbreaker to finish
Reigate Hill Golf Club
Monday at Reigate
A fantastic way to start the week with a 8am tee time in great weather! Generally a good layout with some terrific holes and big changes in elevation. The par 5 16th around the lake is a great hole.
