Kings Acre Golf Club

Tame the rough

A testing but rewarding course that is well worth a look for anyone playing golf in the Edinburgh area. A superb layout keeps each hole varied and ensures an array of different shots are required. Although there are few trees to speak of, keeping it on the fairway is a must as vicious rough will tangle your ball or swallow it altogether. The star hole is the 15th - a 90 degrees dogleg right, which tempts you to cut the corner but if you come up short you're out of bounds. Trying to go straight down the middle is no easy task with an avenue of pine trees to feed it through first of all. One to avoid following a downpour as the course doesn't drain particularly well but in good conditions this is as good a day out as any in the area.
