Matchplay

Matchplay

Since its inception in 2003, the Matchplay Championship has grown to become one of Europe's biggest amateur pairs competitions where thousands of golfers from the UK & Ireland compete to win a place at a luxury Grand Final in Egypt.

For an entry fee of just £20 per golfer, the pairs enjoy a number of knockout matchplay rounds (if they win!) against other golfing pairs in their local area, giving them the chance to meet new golfing friends and play different courses around the world.

The successful pairs then qualify for a Regional Final at a prestigious UK venue where they compete against other winning golfers from their region in a better-ball stableford format for a place on the plane to Egypt.

The Grand Final takes place at the five-star Marriot Taba Heights Resort from 9-16 May 2009 where finalists enjoy a week-long break in the sun and a 54-hole final against other golfers from across the UK & Ireland - all of whom will have paid just £20 to get there!

Entry for the 2008/09 event closed on 30 June 2008 but you can stay up-to-date on this year's event and maybe follow your mates with continued GOLFLINKS coverage and you can check out their website via www.matchplaychampionship.com
